Making art with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

While most of my blog posts are about design and targeting small businesses, I had to take a moment to share some creative inspiration from the Adobe CC Blog.  I do use Illustrator regularly, however it is mostly for graphic corporate illustrations or logo design. I have not created artwork with Illustrator in years, and this post makes me excited to explore Adobe Illustrator as a tool for art-making.  The same goes for Abobe Photoshop.

Grits & Grids: 3 rules for using typography to create visual tone

Over the past weekend I found myself working on a new brand identity for a client. The brand's new logo is mainly text, so I was looking for the perfect font. I ultimately had to invest in a new font from a well know type foundry.  It was an investment, however having a proper font for a new brand identity is crucial.  While playing around with the branding mood board for my client I came across this great article from Grits and Grids.

Wedding Invitations: Helpful tips for creating your unique design

Today, there are so many stunning ready-to-print designs available online and in paper stores. These are a great option if they fit within your budget and your style. However if a truly unique, one-of-a-kind look is what you are going for, working with a designer on custom invite or even creating your own design (if you have the skills/software) is worth it.
